Finally, in 2006, security measures were tightened.

liquids of only up to 100 milliliters
can be taken in hand luggage on flights.
These must also be packed in a transparent bag that is resealable.
There is one bag per passenger, which takes up

security check at the airport .
But it could be that this measure will soon be abolished!
A new computer technology should make it possible.

Shannon Airport on the west coast of Ireland .
It is also the first airport in the EU to eliminate the liquid limit at security.
The new control system, called "state-of-the-art computer tomography" (CT), has been in use since October 2021.
The innovative computer technology reports to the staff at the security check whether the liquids in hand luggage are dangerous or not.
Taking bottled water on the plane is taboo.
But that is now possible at an Irish airport.

For this purpose, the high-tech security
system scans the
suitcases and backpacks and thus the things inside.
This is a great relief for passengers.
