A conductor's baton in ebony, mother of pearl and ivory with silver plates, which belonged to Gioachino Rossini and donated to him by the Municipality of Passy, where the composer had a villa and where he died in 1868, will be auctioned online by Gonnelli Auction House of Florence. Among the lots at auction from 19 to 21 April, there are also old books, graphic works, autographs, photographs, musical documents and another Rossinian relic: an autographed invitation card from the musician for the rehearsals of his Petite Messe Solennelle. The "baguette de chef d'orchestre", prior to 1868, will have a starting price of 1,500 euros.
