CJ Hunter, winner of the shot put at the 1999 World Championships in Seville and ex-husband of Marion Jones, has died at the age of 52.

This was announced by the 'United States National Association of Throwing Coaches' of which Jones was part, without specifying the reasons for Hunter's disappearance.

CJ married Jones in 1998 and two years later she won 3 gold and 2 bronze medals at the Sydney Olympics.

In 2007, her medals were revoked after the American admitted to having used doping, particularly steroids, "several times before the Sydney Olympics and after".

Hunter had had to give up on that edition of the Games, for which he had qualified, due to a knee injury, but in that period the news of his positive doping (nandrolone) had nevertheless come out.

Both, both CJ and Jones, were later implicated in the story of the Balco laboratory, accused of having supplied banned substances to various champions of American athletics.

The two had divorced in 2002 and in 2008 Marion Jones was sentenced to six months in prison, for granted, again for doping-related events.
