A teenager and a young adult drowned on Saturday off the beaches of Narbonne the day after a warning from the Aude prefecture against a "
strong swell
" phenomenon on the coast, firefighters said.

A 17-year-old minor and an adult in his twenties
” drowned, while a third person who was with them was rescued and is in “
relative emergency
”, specified to the AFP the firefighters of Aude.
They were some 150 m from the beach and could not be saved in time despite the presence of a pair of lifeguards, according to the same source.

The prefectures of Hérault, Gironde and Charente-Maritime in particular have also advised against swimming this weekend on the coast due to dangerous weather phenomena.
