Australia: Malka Leifer to stand trial on 70 counts of sexual assault against three complainants
An Australian court has ruled that 55-year-old Leifer, a former principal of a Jewish school in Melbourne, will be prosecuted for acts she committed on three of her students between 2008 and 2004.
The first hearing will be held in the state of Victoria on October 21.

An Australian court today (Thursday) ruled that Malka Leifer, a former principal of a Jewish school in Melbourne, would be prosecuted for sexually assaulting three of her students.
The 55-year-old Leifer fled to Israel in 2012, after an arrest warrant was issued against her, and for six years she fought against her extradition to Australia.
Last year the Supreme Court ruled that she should be extradited back to Australia, where a hearing was held for her, in which she apologized for the 74 charges against her.
According to Australian media reports, the court has announced that an evidentiary basis has been formed against Leifer, and she will be prosecuted on 70 counts, as four counts have been removed from the indictment since they were carried out in Israel.
Magistrate's Court Judge Joanna Metkef said after hearing the testimony of the three sisters Desi Ehrlich, Nicole Meyer and Eli Sapper, she believes in the strength of the evidence against Leifer.
The trial is set to go to court in the state of Victoria, and the first hearing will be held on October 21.

Leifer is accused of committing offenses between 2008-2004 on three students of the Haredi school for the "Israel community" in Melbourne, taking advantage of her position as a teacher and their principal.
Following complaints from students against her, Leifer was suspended from school in 2008 and fled to Israel.
In March 2012, an arrest warrant was issued against her in a court in Australia, and in 2014, extradition proceedings began from Israel.
Advocacy of Lafer argued that it is not fit to stand trial, and she was discharged home, but with exposure of private investigators that she poses as mentally ill, renewed extradition proceedings against it until his extradition to Australia in 2020.
