Vacationers are also affected by the measures.
In the past few days, Austria has again transmitted worrying numbers of corona cases: On Thursday (November 4), according to the Austrian Food Safety Agency (AGES), a total of 9,899 new infections with the virus were reported - one of the highest values since the beginning of the pandemic.
The incidence nationwide is currently 599.6 (as of November 7).
"The dynamism is extraordinary, and the occupancy rates in the intensive care beds are increasing significantly faster than expected," said Federal Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg, according to some media reports.
Therefore, Austria * is now introducing the 2G rule for the entire country.
"It is simply our responsibility to protect the people in our country," the politician said.

In detail, the new Corona measures should look like this:
Wherever the 3G rule previously applied, access is now only permitted for those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered

This affects the body-oriented services such as visiting the hairdresser as well as gastronomy, clubs, Christmas markets, theaters, cinemas, sports and leisure facilities - as well as
hotels
.
This means that holidaymakers who have planned an overnight stay are now only admitted with a proof of vaccination or recovery.
The 2G rule must now also be adhered to for events with more than 25 participants.
Children up to the age of 12 are exempt from the obligation to provide evidence.
However, 3G should still be possible at work, as the Austrian government explains.

A
transition period is to
apply until
December 6th
: Until then,
those
who have been
vaccinated for the first time with an additional PCR test will
also have access in accordance with the 2G rule.
But even
those who are
fully vaccinated cannot sit back and relax: From December 6th, the
Green Passport should only be valid for nine months after the 2nd vaccination
- afterwards a booster
vaccination is
required in order to continue to receive a vaccination certificate.
Anyone who has been vaccinated with a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will need a second dose from January 3, 2022 for a valid Green Passport.
Currently, almost 65 percent of the Austrian population are considered fully vaccinated.

What applies to entering Austria
The entry rules have not yet changed: From Austria's point of view, Germany is one of the countries listed in Annex 1. This means that entry is possible without registration.
Nevertheless, travelers have to provide proof of 3G - i.e. either vaccinated, recovered or tested.
A rapid antigen test that is not more than 48 hours old and a PCR test that is not more than 72 hours old are permitted.
