The back-to-school allowance has been increased as part of the law on emergency measures in favor of purchasing power.

The back-to-school allowance, expected by three million families, will be paid in mainland France on Tuesday, August 16.

And this year, it will be accompanied by a second payment a few days later, corresponding to the revaluation voted by the deputies to boost the purchasing power of the French.

What is its amount?

The back-to-school allowance was, like other benefits and pensions, increased by 4% as part of the law on emergency measures in favor of purchasing power intended to help households cope with the 'inflation.

This revaluation represents an amount between 15.07 and 16.46 euros, depending on the age of the child.

It will be added to the 1.8% increase of April 1, and will be transferred a few days after the first payment.

In all, the ARS will have been increased by 5.8% in 2022, as specified in Dossier Familial.

According to the Ministry of Solidarity and Health, the amount of the allowance will thus be, in total, for the start of the 2022 school year, €392.05 for children aged 6 to 10, €413.69 for children aged 11 to 14 years old, €428.02 for children aged 15 to 18.

Means-tested

This allowance is allocated subject to resources for each child aged 6 to 18 (before 31 January following the start of the school year) and enrolled in a public or private establishment or registered with a distance learning organisation.
