Baseball: "Hosting the European Championship is a huge promotion for the industry" Israel today

After the first publication in "Israel Today", the general manager of the Israeli national team, Peter Kurtz, is happy: "I invite everyone to come and see quality baseball"

A day after Israel was elected to the country in 2025 the European Baseball Championship, the union is already working on the big project, but at the same time looking at the important tasks that will be on the way.

The first publication in "Israel Today" surprised the players of the team who were not aware of the move, but were happy that many of their associates will finally get to see the team play at home, after being forced to do so through television screens in recent years.

Peter Kurtz, the team's technical director, who until recently served as the union's technical director, contributed to bringing the event to Israel: "A holiday, we work on the project a lot, and there is going to be a big baseball celebration in Israel in those days.

"Also in the infrastructure, there is going to be a big change, when they are already working to build the new field in Beit Shemesh and add a locker room, and in the big project in Tel Aviv, temporary stands of 2000 seats will be built, when I already invite everyone to come and see quality baseball."

Kurtz added: "Israel of course automatically comes up because it is the host, and we will build a strong and good team. We will bring some of the players who will immigrate to Israel and also work on the Sabra Israelis. Hosting the championship is a huge promotion of the industry with 85 games."

But until the championship there is still a long way to go, what's going on with the industry now?

"The league will soon open, from the age of 8 to the adults, and there is no doubt that there is an increase in the number of athletes after the great exposure of baseball at the Olympics. You can only see in Tel Aviv, on weekends, at least 100 children playing."

Looking ahead, Kurtz concludes: "I hope baseball will return to being an Olympic sport as early as Los Angeles 2028. It promotes budgets and infrastructure. We are currently concentrating on the world championships to be held in two years."
