Erding - 453 graduates of the state technical college and vocational school (FOS / BOS) Erding had their big day on Friday.

They got their certificates.

The auditorium of the school with many festively dressed and a little excited young people could almost have given a picture from the years before 2020.

If the gaps between the seats hadn't been clearly visible - and the parents hadn't been there.

In order to comply with the hygiene rules, the school had handed over the certificates in four stages until the afternoon.

Despite all the adversities, the school can look back on a proud result. 354 students passed the technical diploma, 99 passed the high school diploma. Seven graduates left the facility with a dream grade of 1.0, 141 times the average was a straight 2.0 or better. “You are by far the best,” said teacher Susanne Hack, who led through the program together with her colleague Klaus Schmitz. And not only that. Five of the seven 1.0 high school graduates are the best in their respective fields in Bavaria. School principal Jens Baumgärtel is particularly proud that they all visit the FOS / BOS in Erding.

The quotation “You have a head start in life if you tackle where the others first talk”, ran as a red thread through his address. Baumgärtel emphasized that the students had to take "many, perhaps too many, exams" on their way to high school. “Few of us teachers or parents can say that they had to graduate from school in such a difficult situation,” he pointed out. “They have proven that a lot is possible if you just want to.” The experiences of the past months would also help you with future professional and private challenges.

Your Abitur is not a "Corona Abitur", but equivalent in every respect.

On the way there, they could rely on their families, even if family members might have problems due to the situation themselves.

"But the teachers also accompanied you closely and made a major contribution to ensuring that you can hold your Abitur certificate in your hands".

Baumgärtel thanked the school management team and the administration as well as the parents' council, the student co-responsibility (SMV) and the district office, which had created the technical prerequisites early on so that the FOS / BOS could get through the crisis and as much classroom teaching as possible could take place.
