Alphonso Davies, 21-year-old Canadian Bayern Munich defender, suffers from "mild inflammation of the heart muscle" (myocarditis) probably as a result of Covid, and will have to rest for several weeks, Bavarian coach Julian Nagelsmann revealed.
The problem shouldn't be more than a nuisance, Nagelsmann replied to the question about the severity of this inflammation.
Doctors do not have scientific certainty about the origin of the disease, "but the probability that it derives from Covid is great", admitted the coach.
"It will be out indefinitely. It's not that dramatic, but it has to heal and it will take some time," he added.
Six other players affected by Covid will return to the squad tomorrow, for the away match in Cologne but, said Nagelsmann, only captain Manuel Neuer and Corentin Tolisso are ready to play from the first minute.
The others, Leroy Sané, Dayot Upamecano, Omar Richards and Tanguy Nianzou "are in the recovery phase, but not enough to go on the pitch from the start".
