Who is one of the eleven lucky ones who are allowed to play in the first Bundesliga game of the new season?

Julian Nagelsmann is spoiled for choice against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Frankfurt – The captain is probably on board: the chances of Manuel Neuer playing in FC Bayern’s Bundesliga opener against Eintracht Frankfurt (Friday, 8:30 p.m.) are good.

"He's doing much better," said coach Julian Nagelsmann at the press conference on Thursday (read the live ticker here).

Neuer struggled with a gastrointestinal infection.

However, Nagelsmann left it open who the goalkeeper may whip up in front of him on Friday evening.

Only one thing is clear: Kingsley Coman (red suspension from last season), Leon Goretzka (knee surgery) and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (adductor problems) will not play.

FC Bayern against Eintracht Frankfurt: De Ligt is a starting eleven candidate

Especially from the first half in the Supercup against RB Leipzig, Nagelsmann was able to "take a lot of positive things with him".

In fact, the Munich team delivered a fast-paced offensive spectacle, the mechanisms already looked like they were oiled.

So it is quite possible that the starting eleven in Frankfurt differs little or not at all from that in Leipzig.

However, newcomer Matthijs de Ligt may have caught up enough fitness through his extra shifts that he can play from the start for the first time.

"He's a candidate for the starting eleven," said Nagelsmann without revealing much.

FC Bayern: Julian Nagelsmann's moderation qualities are in demand

A problem could still come up for the Bayern coach this season: Due to the newcomers, Bayern have twice the number of players in every position.

If there are no injuries, this can quickly lead to disagreements within the team.

Because more than eleven players are still not allowed on the lawn.

Nagelsmann didn't even bother to moderate this problem.

"The belief that you can keep everyone happy will be gone with the first squad nomination," he grinned.

Especially in the offensive, the offer is large.

Youngster Jamal Musiala showed such a strong performance against Leipzig that he is actually an indispensable part of the starting XI.

So it is quite conceivable that Nagelsmann would rely on a real offensive army against Eintracht – with Joshua Kimmich as the only real defensive midfielder.

The whole thing could look like this:
