A bus driver was on Monday in a state of brain death after a violent attack in Bayonne (Pyrénées-Atlantiques).
Police said the 50-year-old man was hit in the head late Sunday afternoon. He was allegedly beaten and seriously injured after refusing to admit users who did not have a ticket and were not wearing masks. He had been transported in very serious condition to the hospital in Bayonne.
This Monday morning, drivers of the Chronoplus network asserted their right of withdrawal after this tragedy, according to Sud Ouest. One person has been arrested and other alleged attackers are on the run, a police source said.
