The soccer women of VfL Wolfsburg have to play their Bundesliga home game against SGS Essen without spectators.
Because the game takes place on November 21, the Sunday of the Dead, no fans are allowed in the AOK Stadium.
The Sunday of the Dead is a silent holiday of the Protestant Church on which "public sporting events of a commercial nature" are not allowed according to the Lower Saxony Public Holidays Act, as the club announced on Wednesday.
Wolfsburg - Due to the tight schedule of the Wolfsburg women, no alternative date could be found.
Therefore, the club, the city of Wolfsburg and the state of Lower Saxony agreed on the solution without an audience.
