Motorists can look forward to a tank discount from June.

However, a petrol station operator warns of an imminent shortage of petrol and diesel.

Kassel – Fuel prices in Germany exploded weeks ago.

The reason for this is the ongoing Ukraine conflict.

For this reason, the federal government has decided on a relief package.

It stipulates that motorists will probably be able to look forward to a tank discount from June.

This is intended to reduce the price of petrol and diesel by reducing energy tax.

According to calculations, the price of petrol could drop by 36 cents per liter and diesel by 17 cents per liter.

The chairman of the Association of Independent Gas Stations, Duraid El Obeid, recently warned in Wirtschaftswoche of a “historic” rush to gas stations in June.

Obeid operates 140 service stations under the Sprint brand.

So are there bottlenecks in the fuel supply in Germany?

Looking ahead to June 1 and the anticipated rush to gas stations, Obeid said, "I'm sure we'll see temporary vacancies for the first few days," reports Business Insider.

Tank discount 2022: gas station operator warns of rush and shortage of petrol and diesel

The association is very confident that there are enough gasoline and diesel fuel in the refineries and tank farms.

But: “It will be problematic to cope with the rush to load the tankers on June 1st”.

Obeid expects “long waiting times” at this point.

Those who have a great deal of influence over the freight forwarder or who have their own tankers will have an advantage.

"There will be enough fuel, just not at the right place on time," said Obeid.

At the beginning of May, the Auto-Mobilclub ADAC warned motorists not to drive around with an empty tank on June 1st.

"As a precaution, you should keep enough residual fuel in the tank and not be on the road with the last drop," said an ADAC spokesman.

Not only drivers are considering switching to electric cars because of the currently high petrol and diesel prices.

Even traditional brands see the future in electromobility - and want to convert their entire production.
