Corona in Bavaria: World famous Christmas market in Nuremberg canceled
The city originally planned to have the
traditional Christkindlesmarkt more
decentralized and with a strict hygiene concept.
But in view of the increasing numbers, the city now thinks this is a wrong signal, said König.
Together with the Dresden Striezelmarkt, the Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt is one of the
oldest Christmas
markets
in Germany.
The Christ Child traditionally opens this with the prologue, which usually thousands of visitors listen to on the main market.
The city is still considering what role the Nuremberg Christ Child could play this year, it said.
