The house of the former president of the Renault Nissan alliance, Carlos Ghosn, who fled to Beirut after fleeing Japanese justice last December, was destroyed by the explosion which took place on Tuesday (August 4th) in the Lebanese capital, a told his wife Carole Ghosn to the Brazilian newspaper O Estado de S. “ We are all fine, but the house is destroyed, ” Carole Ghosn told the Brazilian newspaper. “ All of Beirut is destroyed, ” she continued. The colonial-style pink mansion, located in the chic district of Achrafieh, had become world famous in an interview with Carlos Ghosn broadcast after his escape from Japan.
The former businessman's house was located 5 kilometers from the port, where the tragedy took place on Tuesday. The disaster, caused by the explosion of scores of tons of abandoned ammonium nitrate, left at least 137 dead and 5,000 injured and left hundreds of thousands of people homeless.
