He calls it his “Doppelgrafabend”: Georg Unterholzner from Ascholding brings two famous poets from the east bank together at Bergkramerhof.

- Franz Graf von Pocci and Oskar Maria Graf, both famous sons of the east bank, never met in real life.

They couldn't either, they lived at different times.

One count (Pocci, famous inventor of the Kasperl Larifari) died in 1876. The other count (Oskar Maria, creator of such famous books as "We Are Prisoners") was only born in 1894.

But they will soon have a joint appearance on stage, namely at the Doppelgraf evening on Thursday, July 29th, at Bergkramerhof.

Behind it is once again Georg Unterholzner from Ascholding, veterinarian in the district office and crime writer. His love for Oskar Maria Graf went so far that a few years ago he put together a "Grafical" consisting of texts by the revered author with musical accompaniment by Sepp Kloiber and Martin Regnat. You are also back at the Doppelgraf evening. And yet: there is no overlap with the very successful “Grafical”, which was even performed in the Munich House of Literature. “It's a completely different format,” says the vet with a pronounced penchant for literature.

The Ascholdinger came up with the idea of connecting the two authors from the east bank during a performance of his play at the Bergkramerhof.

There the chairman of the Pocci Society, Dr.

Michael Köhle, approach him.

Unterholzner began to delve into the work of Count Franz von Pocci and found it more and more astonishing.

That a man from the nobility who served three Bavarian kings as master of ceremonies dared to make extremely subversive jokes: "That impressed me," says Unterholzner.

Despite all the differences to the baker's son Oskar Maria Graf, who only attended elementary school for seven years, he noticed one thing in common: “Both were linguistically powerful people with a sense of humor and a joy in the grotesque.” It was not from there for the Doppelgraf evening more far.

Unterholzner will be supported next Thursday by Oliver Leeb, who has been quoting changing texts from Oskar Maria Graf in the Giesinger Bar Riffraff for some time. Leeb will read the passages by the Berger poet. Unterholzner takes over the part from Pocci. There are not only a few evaporated pieces of "Kasperl Larifari" to be heard. The “State Hemorrhoidarius” devised by Pocci also plays an important role, a satire - extremely courageous at the time - on the Bavarian civil service. It is also astonishing that the resident of Ammerland Castle anticipated the Third Reich, namely in the figure of the gymnast, who, in the tradition of the notorious gymnastics father Jahn, appears German and aggressive. The other count suffered brutally this Third Reich. That should be the momentwhere the two so different and yet so similar authors come closest to each other over the ages.

By the way, there is the anecdote that Graf and Graf met each other every now and then.

However, Pocci was not the Punch and Judy, but his grandson of the same name.

On the street, the Berger poet and the Pocci descendant politely took off their hats and said to each other: "Grüß Gott, Herr Graf." Whether the anecdote is true, of course, one does not know.

If so: that too would have been a kind of double count.
