A suspected left-wing extremist has been a caretaker for the Berlin police at the headquarters of the special forces in Lichterfelde for several months.

The police confirmed a corresponding report in the Berliner Zeitung.

A few days ago the man was caught using drugs on the police compound.

The police investigated and established that he is listed as a criminal under the heading »Politically motivated crime - Links«.

The man was "employed externally," said the authority on Twitter.

How this could come about must now be examined.

The police station on Augustaplatz accommodates the special task force (SEK), personal protection and reconnaissance officers who, as plainclothes police, mingle with the demonstrators on May 1st, for example, to observe who is collecting and throwing stones.
