The so-called network charges on the electricity bills of Berlin households are expected to rise slightly in the coming year.

With an average annual consumption of 2050 kilowatt hours, 20 cents more per month than before would be due, Stromnetz Berlin announced on Thursday.

Berlin - The network charges make up around a quarter of the electricity price for household customers in Berlin.

The network operator uses them to finance electricity transport, meter operation, measurements and billing.

The fees are set according to the specifications of the Federal Network Agency.

"We are investing heavily and will continue our investment program at a high level in the years to come," said Thomas Schäfer, head of Stromnetz Berlin.

"Due to increased purchase prices for energy, raw materials and materials, among other things, this inevitably leads to higher costs, which are reflected in the changed network charges." Dpa
