Vladimir Putin did not remain many friends internationally.

Bernie Ecclestone is one of them.

The former Formula 1 boss is enthusiastic about the Russian President.

LONDON - The Ukraine war has had a massive impact on sport.

Formula 1 positioned itself clearly against Vladimir Putin's war of aggression and immediately canceled the race in Sochi, and the Russian Haas driver Nikita Mazepin lost his cockpit.

Despite the overwhelming facts to the detriment of the aggressor Russia, former Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone once again made consistently positive comments about the Russian president.

Ex-Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone would 'catch a bullet' for Vladimir Putin

The 91-year-old was interviewed on ITV channel 'Good Morning Britain' on the current war issue on Thursday morning and again made disturbing statements.

At the beginning of March, the Briton had already described Russian President Putin as an "honorable man" who had never done anything "that wasn't good for people".

However, the past few weeks and months, in which thousands of civilians lost their lives in Ukraine, have not caused Ecclestone to rethink.

He was once again full of praise for Putin, who he described as "a first-class personality".

For example, he told the morning show that he "would still walk through fire for him".

But it didn't stop there, Ecclestone claimed in the same interview that he would "catch a bullet" for the Russian head of state.

Russian invasion according to Bernie Ecclestone "not intentional" by Vladimir Putin

"He's doing what he thought was the right thing for Russia," said the former Formula 1 chief executive, but he also hinted that Putin made mistakes.

However, this happens, now he has to see that he gets out of the situation as best as possible.

The invasion of Ukraine was "not intentional," he continued his claims.

Formula 1 reacts to Ecclestone statements - "is in stark contrast to the values of our sport"

But Ecclestone didn't just shock the audience with the hymns of praise for Putin, who initiated the war of aggression that violated international law.

He also criticized the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to Ecclestone, he missed speaking to Putin.

"If he had thought enough about it, he would have tried to talk to Putin about it," said the former motorsport official.

"The other person in Ukraine, as far as I know, was a comedian by profession - and I think he wants to continue in that profession."

Formula 1 immediately reacted to the statements made by the former representative of the motorsport series.

A spokesman made it clear that Ecclestone's comments were his "personal views" and that they "stand in stark contrast to the modern values of our sport".

Formula 1 is currently also struggling with a racism scandal, so the construction sites are not getting any fewer.
