The decline in births in Italy continues but the use of medically assisted procreation techniques is increasing: in Italy, in 2019, 3.06 pregnancies per 100 were carried out on average, for a total of about 12,800 new births out of 421,913 registered in the same year.
This is what emerges from the latest Annual Report on the birth event in Italy (Cedap) edited by the Ministry of Health.
In 2018, on the other hand, pregnancies with assisted fertilization were 2.53 per 100. As for the total number of births in Italy, in 2019 they were 20,763 less than the 442,676 in 2018.
