Despite a dedicated performance, Karlsruher SC made it into the last eight.

Sixty tried to free themselves as best they could, but KSC clearly improved their game.

Marvin Wanitzek missed the lead in the 57th minute with a shot from the edge of the penalty area.

But the lions fought against the increasing playful dominance of the second division.

The home side defended with a lot of fighting and had a secure backing in Hiller when Gondorf shot (63rd).

In the 68th minute the unfortunate decision was imminent.

During a rescue operation in the penalty area, Greilinger jumped the ball after a cross from the right wing and Martin Petersen pointed to the point.

Wanitzek kept his nerve, missed Hiller and scored safely in the corner to make it 1-0.

Sixty coach Köllner reacted and brought two new players into the game with Tim Linsbichler and Keanu Staude.

The Heimelf convinced with commitment and almost deserved the compensation.

Erik Tallig got the ball from a central position in the penalty area, but failed to get through to goalkeeper Marius Gersbeck (76').

Maybe with their own support behind them, an energy performance would have been possible, but without the fans, the Blues never recovered from the goal.

In the end, KSC secured the million-dollar bonus for reaching the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup.

The TSV 1860 must check off the unfortunate defeat quickly.

On Saturday, the Köllner-Elf wants to set the next exclamation point in the derby and make up more ground on the promotion places with a win against Türkgücü Munich.
