Bridgestone: a difficult reclassification

The Japanese leaders of Bridgestone do not budge.

The Béthune site, in Pas-de-Calais, which employs 863 people and employs hundreds of other subcontractor employees, will not be maintained as it is.

This factory, which manufactures small diameter tires for passenger vehicles, has been in difficulty for years, even from the leaders of the industrialist.

Only value-added tires manage to resist in Europe.

The tire manufacturer now wants to take the next step, to set up support for employees as part of a PSE (job protection plan).

On October 1, a first information-consultation meeting should make it possible to detail with the unions the Bridgestone proposals in terms of internal and external reclassification.

Bridgestone's distribution network could be a lead;

but it is difficult to see how dozens of employees could join its ranks.
