Stunned Berliners: 0: 6 Hertha went down in Leipzig

With just four points from the first five league games, runners-up Leipzig started the season, while RB took just one point from the last four competitive games. For the game against Hertha, Leipzig coach Jesse Marsch switched his team tactically, acted for the first time with a three-man chain - and plowed over the Berliners. In the first half, Yussuf Poulsen stood out, who was in the starting line-up instead of star signing André Silva. Poulsen prepared the first goal by Christopher Nkunku (16th) with a clever way of letting the ball through before he - on Nkunku's presentation - scored himself (23rd).
Hertha appeared after two wins, the only point wins of the season so far, and was even lucky: The strong Emil Forsberg failed for Leipzig on the crossbar (34th), a goal from Lukas Klostermann was denied (37th).
The goals came later, however: Nordi Mukiele decided the game before the break when he finished completely free with a free kick from the left half-field at the second post (45th + 3).
In the second half Forsberg drove a penalty (59th), Nkunku with a free kick in the corner (70th) and Amadou Haidara (77th) the result.
Hertha never lost higher in the Bundesliga, most recently in 2012 they lost 6-0 to Bayern.
The Leipzig team won 8-0 against Mainz 05 once in 2019/2020.
A player who has already scored ten Bundesliga goals has never been younger: Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz achieved something historic with his opening goal against Mainz 05. In the 62nd minute, the 18-year-old and 139-day-old national player played a one-two with Jeremie Frimpong and simply stayed in the penalty area. Eintracht is still waiting for the first win of the season.
