The FSV Mainz 05 has given his coach Achim Beierlorzer a victorious home debut. The Mainz won the derby against Eintracht Frankfurt 2: 1 (0: 1). In the Bundesliga, the SGE has never won away against the FSV. Martin Hinteregger put the visitors ahead in the 33rd minute, but Karim Onisiwo (50) and Adam Szalai (69) turned ten against Frankfurter. Dominik Kohr (44.) had seen the red card shortly before the break due to an emergency brake.

The game started ten minutes later than planned because Frankfurt fans fired a gun and fired flares onto the pitch just before the kick-off. Referee Manuel Gräfe then asked both teams to return to the cabins. As it started, the fans renounced initially in protest against Monday games on the support of the teams.

For half an hour, no team came to a good chance - then the lead fell for the guests: After a corner, the ball came to Hinteregger, who hit by low shot (34). The Eintracht seemed to have everything under control, but after a corner of his own he was able to concede. Kohr was only able to slow down the runaway Levin Öztunali unfairly - and saw red (44.).

Mainz came out of the cab better. Jean-Paul Boëtius (48.) forced Frederik Rönnow to a splendid save, shortly thereafter Onisiwo scored to equalize (50.). Almost the Austrian could have been celebrated as a double goalscorer, but the video evidence showed that the ball had been in front of his supposed second goal in the end. Shortly afterwards, however, Szalai scored with a shot from close range to victory (69.).
