The federal election 2021 in Bavaria: An overview of the 46 constituencies, the direct candidates, results and surveys before the election for Bavaria and current results on election day.
On September 26, 2021, all Bavarians eligible to vote (over 18, primary residence in Bavaria and German citizenship) will vote a not inconsiderable portion of the German Bundestag.
There are 46 constituencies in Bavaria, in which the respective voters vote on a list and a direct candidate.
All in all, 92 of the 598 members of the Bundestag in Bavaria are decided.
Then there are the overhang mandates and probably not too few of them, after the long overdue electoral reform has turned into a reform, which opens the door to an XXL Bundestag.
Bundestag election in Bavaria: Current poll with historically poor performance for CSU
The latest Bavaria poll (September 1 to 6, 2021) on the federal election showed a historically bad result for the CSU.
The survey was carried out by the Hamburg survey institute GMS on behalf of

It is a representative telephone survey in Bavaria with 1004 respondents in the period from September 1 to 6, 2021. The CSU fell below the 30 percent for the first time.
The SPD almost doubled its values compared to the July survey.
On September 8th, Bayerischer Rundfunk will also publish its Bavaria Trend.

Let's move on to the constituencies.
Federal election 2021 in Bavaria - in which constituency do I actually vote?
Good question!
It's not that simple.
So that the federal election remains democratic, every constituency in Germany should have roughly the same number of voters, otherwise the vote in the tranquil Miesbach in the Oberland suddenly counts significantly more than in Munich.
That is why the constituencies' layouts change a little every four years and they do not correspond to the political boundaries.
For example, the Freising district (214) already includes the entire Freising district, but also the Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm district and parts of the Neuburg-Schrobenhausen district.
What follows is a very long list with all 46 constituencies and their layout.

Federal Parliament election 2021 in Bavaria: list election and direct candidates (first vote and second vote)
With that we would have finally clarified the "where", remains the "who".
It is well known that you make two crosses in the federal election, also in Bavaria.
With the second vote, you choose the state list of a party; the majority in the Bundestag is determined from all votes nationwide.
It is therefore considered to be the more important one because it directly determines the percentage of people in the Bundestag.
Second vote (list election) in Bavaria: These parties run
In Bavaria you have 26 parties to choose from for the second vote.
Their order on the ballot paper is based on the second votes obtained in the previous federal election.
The parties that compete for the first time come in alphabetical order.
Here is the list as it will appear on the ballot:
1 CSU: The list is led by Alexander Dobrindt (constituency 226 Weilheim), followed by Dorothee Bär (constituency 248 Bad Kissingen) and Andreas Scheuer (229 Passau).
2 SPD: Uli Grötsch (constituency 235 Weiden), two Bärbel Kofler (225 Traunstein) and three Carsten Träger (243 Fürth) on the list.
3 AfD: In first place on the list Peter Boehringer, two Corinna Miazga and three Stephan Protschka.
4 FDP: Daniel Föst (constituency 217 Munich-North) is in first place, Katja Hessel (244 Nuremberg-North) in second place, Karsten Klein (247 Aschaffenburg) in third place.
5 GREEN: Claudia Roth (252 constituency Augsburg Stadt) is in first place, Toni Hofreiter (221 Munich Land) is second, Ekin Deligöz (255 Neu-Ulm) is third.
6 DIE LINKE: Nicole Gohlke (constituency 220: Munich-West / Mitte) is in first place, Klaus Ernst (constituency 250: Schweinfurt) in second place, and Susanne Ferschl (constituency 257: Ostallgäu) in third.
7 FREE VOTERS: Hubert Aiwanger (Lower Bavaria) is in first place on the list, Annette Hauser-Felberbaum (Swabia) is in second and Christian Schindler (Upper Palatinate) is in third.

First vote: The choice of direct candidates in Bavaria briefly explained
With the so-called first vote, you choose your direct candidate. Whoever wins the majority of the first votes in the constituency moves into the Bundestag. Regardless of whether or in which place it is on the state list. Theoretically, this form of voting would also give non-party or independent candidates the chance of entering parliament. In practice, the German apparently likes to cross the same party twice and rarely even knows the names of the direct candidates in his constituency, which tends to lead to the victory of the direct candidate who belongs to the most popular party. Of course, this is only a theory. Another would be that the CSU candidates simply put all other direct candidates in all 46 constituencies in the shade. Either way, all direct mandates in the 2017 federal election went to the CSU.
But this time it is anything but certain.
In the urban constituencies in particular, candidates for the Greens certainly have valid chances.
A look at the result of the state elections in Bavaria in 2018 shows a growing Green electorate in the cities.
After all, six Greens won a direct mandate here.
Five in Munich and one in Würzburg.
The other 85 went to the CSU, but at least.
And current surveys for the constituencies in urban areas in Bavaria also show that the race will be close.
