Store diesel and petrol?
Drivers must follow the rules

Petrol and diesel are still more expensive.
However, if you want to stock up on fuel at home, you have to consider a few things.
Munich – Anyone who drives to the gas station they trust these days needs strong nerves.
Because: The fuel prices have risen extremely since the Russians invaded Ukraine*.
New record prices are reported almost every day.
In some places, diesel has long been more expensive than super.
Crude oil prices are the reason for the dramatic price increase at the pump.
These have also skyrocketed as a result of the Ukraine war.
An attempt by Germany and other countries to calm the situation on the world market* hardly had any effect.
Bunker diesel and petrol?

If you live in the border regions, it can sometimes be worth taking a trip to the neighboring country to refuel cheaper there.
Fuel in Poland is currently up to 60 cents cheaper than in Germany.
So if you can, you don't just fill up the tank.
But be careful, if you transport fuel in canisters, you should find out about the specification beforehand*.
Strict regulations apply to the storage of petrol and diesel.

The same applies to the question of how much petrol* and diesel* may be stored at home.
Strict regulations apply in this regard as well.
The garage ordinance of the respective federal state is decisive for this.
Essentially, however, these hardly differ.
Bunker diesel and petrol?
Only allowed in small garages and basements
The garage ordinance of Baden-Württemberg states, for example: "In small garages, up to 200 liters of diesel fuel and up to 20 liters of petrol may be stored in tightly closed, shatterproof containers outside of motor vehicles." These quantities also apply in the other federal states.
The difference in the amount is explained by the fact that diesel is not as flammable as petrol.

What is important, however, is that fuel may only be stored in small garages.
According to the garage ordinance, these may have a maximum floor area of 100 square meters.
Storage in large garages is now prohibited in Germany.
In addition to the garage, petrol can also be stored in the basement, provided that it is structurally suitable for this.
Here the limit of 20 liters applies to both diesel and petrol.
If you rent an apartment building, you have to share this amount with your fellow tenants.
In the apartment itself, storing petrol except for a small amount in the is prohibited.
It also makes sense to take a look at the rental agreement, because the storage of flammable liquids can be ruled out from the outset.
