"Structural racism in our society": several left-wing elected officials rose up on Wednesday against ethnic discrimination at the entrance to private beaches on the Côte d'Azur, observed during an SOS-Racism operation.

In a video broadcast the day before by the online media Loopsider, which filmed this operation with a hidden camera, North African and black couples are denied access to two private beaches in Juan-les-Pins in the Alpes-Maritimes because they would be, according to the employees, complete.

But a white couple who shows up next is accepted either way.

Easier to get a deckchair on the private beaches of the Côte d'Azur when you're white than when you're a racialized person.

This is what activists from SOS racism proved during a test on July 30 in Juan-les-Pins.

Left-wing elected officials reassembled

"Unbearable," tweeted LFI deputy and Jean-Luc Mélenchon's campaign director, Manuel Bompard, joined by his colleague Bastien Lachaud: "There is the unbearable reality of racism and discrimination.

And there is the fact that it is still necessary today to provide proof of this structural racism in our society, which some still persist in denying.

Socialist Senator Rachid Temal was also indignant: “Ordinary racism in 2022 in France.

It is necessary to reinforce the tools of control, follow-up and sanctions”.

"Justice must take the step and heavily punish", abounded the boss of EELV, Julien Bayou.

SOS-Racisme has indicated its intention to file a complaint against the two establishments in question.

“Racism is very present at all times for a large number of citizens without there being a political and public response to the height to combat and sanction these racist behaviors and attitudes”, also deplored the spokespersons of 'EELV Chloé Sagaspe and Alain Coulombel in a press release.

“Now is the time for strong and profound decisions,” they insisted.
