If you cook or heat with gas when camping, you should heed a few safety tips.
The TÜV Association explains what is important.
In order to get through the camping season safely, the TÜV association recommends having installations and modifications to gas systems checked by experts before they are used for the first time and every two years.
When
buying new gas cylinders or cartridges
, you should pay attention to the Pi (π) mark.
It indicates that the pressure vessels comply with the applicable EU directives.
The experts also recommend always transporting gas cylinders vertically and only with a protective cap.
This prevents damage to the valve and thread.
Safely through the camping season
Hoses need to be replaced regularly
as their material can become brittle and cracked.
The tightness of the hoses can be easily checked: Apply a thin layer of
water with washing-up liquid or a special soap bubble agent to the
valves and hose using a sponge
.
If bubbles form when there is gas pressure, the hose or the valve is leaking.
What you should consider when cooking in the mobile home
Doors and windows should also be open
when
using gas stoves in motorhomes or caravans .
Apart from that, the following generally applies: If you load your camping vehicle too heavily with luggage, you have to expect fines, some of which can be high.
You should also make sure that all items in the camping vehicle are stowed away safely and securely.
