In 2018, Greenwheels became the third largest car sharing provider in Berlin, behind Car2Go and DriveNow.
However, the German-Dutch company under the umbrella of the VW Group is now ending its business in the German market.
The company announced that the service in this country would be terminated at the end of September.
"Greenwheels will concentrate entirely on its home market, the Netherlands," is the reasoning.
According to the company, Greenwheels recently had around 400 cars in operation nationwide.
Bookings after September 30th will be cancelled
According to the information, the background is that the Volkswagen group is only offering its free-floating range of fully electric vehicles on the German car-sharing market under the WeShare brand – and that two car-sharing providers from the same group are not vying for customers.
According to Greenwheels, customers who have a booking until after September 30th can no longer start their journey.
Corresponding cancellations would be sent shortly.
