They are on the front line. Some still receive applause every evening at 8 p.m., others are in the shade. All, however, will be affected by a bonus to reward their efforts and their indispensable role in crossing the health crisis. Here they are.
Caregivers, bulwark against coronavirus, have the highest premium
They were the first to know that they were going to receive one. At the end of March, Emmanuel Macron had promised them this financial reward for their efforts in the face of a significant increase in their work. It was not until May 15 that this promise appeared in the official journal.

This premium amounts to 500 euros for all hospital staff and 1500 euros for those who work in the 40 departments most affected by the epidemic or by services that have received patients from Covid-19, ensures the decree. The personnel concerned will see this premium, tax exempt and exempt from social security contributions, land on their May or June salary. However, quotas could be put in place to attribute this bonus only to 40% of the workforce in 79 hospitals deemed to be " on the front line " of the epidemic. In all, the measure will cost the Ministry of Health 1.3 billion euros.

Some teachers will see their solidarity financially rewarded
This Wednesday, the teachers learned that they were going to receive a bonus, too. But not all. This will affect " only " 65,000 employees of National Education, namely teachers who took in the 30,000 children of caregivers and professions essential during confinement, school doctors, administrators or even computer scientists. They will receive, between July and September, 330, 660 or 1000 euros, depending on their involvement and their additional and united working time. This should break down as follows: 330 euros for those who were mobilized between 4 days and 9.5 days; 660 euros between 10 and 15.5 days and 1000 euros for those who have spent more than 16 days on it. A device that remains to be validated.
Indispensable during confinement, cashiers receive unequal bonuses
A profession also on the front line since the start of the crisis. Frequently, the opposition denounced the meager average remuneration of cashiers. Thus, Bruno Le Maire, Minister of the Economy, invited mass distribution from mid-March to pay a bonus of " 1000 euros tax-free to employees who have the courage to go to their place of work ".

At first, the call was followed and the companies all announced future bonuses. But the reality is more nuanced. In fact, most bonuses are prorated to the hours worked, with 30% of jobs in the profession in part-time, the bonus rarely reaches 1000 euros. Lidl, for example, pays a bonus based on working time. Ditto at Auchan or Casino, where the " 1000 euros bonus" turns into a bonus " up to 1000 euros ".
There remains, however, an exemption to this: Carrefour. The giant has indeed planned to pay these 1000 euros to 85,000 of its 105,000 employees, regardless of their working time.
In addition, this bonus will generally be paid to employees in contact with the public and present in the company at the time of payment, at the end of June or July most of the time, which excludes from this device a large number of fixed-term and temporary workers. .

The decree of May 15 opens the possibility of a bonus to many professions
This decree in fact determines " the conditions under which the State, local authorities and their public establishments (...) may pay an exceptional premium " to their agents " particularly mobilized during the state of health emergency ".
In it are appointed, as eligible for the payment of a bonus, “ the magistrates of the judicial order, the civil servants and contractual agents of public law of the State, (…) of the territorial collectivities and their public establishments and public interest groups, the military, contractual personnel under private law in public establishments, civil and military personnel employed by the State or by its public administrative establishments serving abroad, contractual personnel recruited by state services abroad on contracts of employment subject to local law ”and a large number of civil servants. According to Gérald Darmanin, Minister of Public Accounts, about one in five civil servants in the state civil service, or 400,000 people, will be affected.
The conditions for distributing the " Macron premium " are relaxed
Introduced at the height of the " yellow vests ", this bonus gives companies the right to pay up to 1000 euros, tax-free, to their employees. Faced with the health crisis, the government modified the deadline as well as the conditions of payment of this premium to facilitate access. "In order to more specifically reward employees who worked during the Covid-19 epidemic, a new criterion for adjusting the amount of the bonus may also be adopted by the collective agreement or the unilateral decision of the employer putting in place implement this bonus, ” details the order that simplifies access.
