Monday's day began with harsh news that worried the sports world, especially the Caballito neighborhood and the city of La Plata: Carlos Timoteo Griguol (86), the historic technical director of Ferro Carril Oeste and Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata was admitted to the Los Arcos Sanatorium for respiratory problems.

According to the Diario Hoy of the city of the diagonals, the beloved "86-year-old former coach is going through a difficult time and his condition is delicate."

"The Old Man" as everyone knows him affectionately presents some pulmonary complications and his family awaits the result of several studies that will mark the steps to follow.

The man from Cordoba had an extensive and successful career as DT in Rosario Central, Ferro, River and the Lobo platense and left an indelible mark on all of them.

In Central he replaced Angel Tulio Zof and won the Nacional in 73

, his first title as a coach.

In addition, with Canalla he achieved a record of ten victories in a row and reached the semifinal of Libertadores.

In Avellaneda 1240, where the mythical Ferro court rises, it has the size of a hero.

Is that, his time at the Green was no less successful than the Rosarina experience:

he gave him the first two titles in his history, in 82 and 84

, where he defeated none other than River in the final.

River: that was his next and brief step: just one Inter-American in 87 and he returned to Ferro where he could deploy his philosophy of the game.

The Elder's last years were in Gymnastics, where he pursued again and again the dream of the first title of the professional era.

He had three stages interrupted by other adventures, including an excursion to Spain to coach Betis.

His last appearance in the Forest was in 2004 when he began to have some health problems that took him away from public life.

Now, the 86-year-old former coach faces a picture of pulmonary complications at the Palermo sanatorium.

The situation is complicated because his health has been deteriorating in recent years.

The family awaits news.
