Cars: in Europe + 73.7% in May, but on 2019 -25%

In May in Western Europe - EU countries, EFTA and the United Kingdom - 1,083,795 cars were registered, 73.7% more than in the same month of 2020, when the lockdown measures for Covid were very severe. The data comes from Acea, the association of European car manufacturers.

The comparison with the same month of 2019 shows, however, a decrease of 25%.

In the first five months of the year 5,204,398 cars were registered, up by 31.1% over the same period of 2020. Also in this case, the decrease compared to 2019 is 25%.

The Stellantis group registered 60.9% more than in the same month of 2020, with a share of 20.7% compared to 22.3%.

In the five months, the cars sold by Stellantis amounted to 1,119,830, with a growth of 37.9% over the same period last year and the share that rose from 20.5 to 21.5%.
