The South China Morning Post reported quoting Cathay Pacific’s internal documents, stating that route cuts would be a permanent measure; however, sources disclosed to “Hong Kong 01” that the related route cuts will definitely not resume flights until next year, but if air travel returns to normal , Or there is still a chance to resume the flight.

Cathay Pacific responded to inquiries and stated that after careful research, it is unlikely to operate passenger flights to certain destinations in the foreseeable future, including Gatwick, Dublin and Brussels in Europe, and Newark, Washington and Seattle in North America.

Due to the decline in passenger demand, flight services between Hong Kong and the above-mentioned destinations have been suspended for many months. "The current operating environment is still changing rapidly. We will continue to review the flight network to meet the latest market conditions."

Cathay Pacific announced earlier that it is expected that the passenger capacity in the first half of 2021 will still be much lower than 25% in 2019, and the passenger capacity in the whole year of 2021 will be below 50%.

At present, Cathay Pacific has only five routes left in the United States, which are to and from Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York City's Kennedy International Airport.

As for the London Heathrow Airport route, it will also be retained.
