Champions League: Four penalties at FC Sevilla against RB Salzburg

The eventful first Champions League game in Group F did not find a winner: In the 1-1 (1-1) draw between FC Sevilla and RB Salzburg there were four penalties in the first half, three of them for the guests.

Luka Sučić scored the opening goal for the Austrian champions (21st minute), Ivan Rakitić equalized - also from the penalty spot - for the Spaniards (42nd).

This game had already gone down in the history of the premier class with its four penalties at the break.

But first things first: Karim Adeyemi missed a penalty after 13 minutes of play, the DFB attacker was previously brought down on the penalty area line by Diego Carlos.

Shortly afterwards, referee Aleksei Kulbakov decided again on a penalty, Luka Sučić ran up and hit the bottom left (21st).

Salzburg left the ball to Sevilla and relied on quick counterattacks, one of which led to the third penalty whistle for the guests.

Sučić, who had previously converted, put the ball on the right post (37th).

Three penalties for Salzburg, but no lead at break

Never before have there been three penalties for a team in the Champions League.

And there have never been four penalties in one half, as Kulbakov pointed to the point again after a foot strike from Maximilian Wöber to Youssef En-Nesyri and video review, for the first time in this game for the home team.

The experienced Rakitić took on responsibility and hit the left corner to equalize (42nd).

The team of coach Ole Gunnar Solskjær lost 1: 2 (1: 0) at the Swiss champions Young Boys Bern.

Cristiano Ronaldo gave the English an early lead (13th), while Nicolas Ngamaleu (66th) scored to equalize in Bern.

Jordan Siebatcheu decided the game in stoppage time (90 + 4).

United's returnee Ronaldo was back in the starting XI after his brace in the league, as were Paul Pogba and Jadon Sancho.

With his first action, Ronaldo put his team in the lead, after a fine pass from the inside of the foot by Bruno Fernandes, the 36-year-old snuck away at the second post and pushed the ball through David von Ballmoos' legs (13th).

Ronaldo also celebrated a record: he caught up with goalkeeper Iker Casillas with his 177th appearance in the Champions League.

On the coming matchday, Ronaldo could become the sole record player, as Casillas is no longer active in goal.

David Wagner, the former Schalke coach, had to complain about the failure of his regular defense, and his team at the beginning also had problems creating their own goal scenes, the leaders of the Premier League acted too dominantly and safely on the ball.

That changed after Aaron Wan-Bissaka came too late in a duel with Mohamed Camara and stepped on his ankle with a stretched leg and an open sole.

The favorite had to play outnumbered from the 35th minute of the game.

But it was difficult to get through against the densely staggered defense department of the 20-time English champions.

In stoppage time, the entire team, including substitutes, ran towards Siebatcheu.
