Champions League: Kehrer and Gueye in the group for Istanbul

2020-10-26T19:44:46.716Z

Recovered from their injuries, the Senegalese midfielder and the German defender are back in the Parisian group on the occasion of the trip

In Paris, the crossover is not just about summer vacation.

On the eve of flying to Turkey, this Tuesday morning, to challenge Başakşehir the next day (7 p.m.) as part of the 2nd day of the Champions League, Thomas Tuchel saw several of his players take opposite paths .

Thilo Kherer and Idrissa Gueye have taken the “highway of the sun” and joined the group which will go to Istanbul.

Holder during the first two meetings of the season in Lens and Marseille (1-0 defeats), the German defender is therefore done with his adductor problems which have left him on the side since mid-September.

He will undoubtedly be too short of form to run for a place in the starting lineup on Wednesday night.

But his return nevertheless offers an additional solution to Thomas Tuchel in an area where the German coach still seems to be wondering about the suitable pair of Presnel Kimpembe in central defense.

Several weeks of unavailability for Draxler

A little less than a week after having to leave his partners at half-time in the match against Manchester United (1-2), Idrissa Gueye is also back on his feet.

An express recovery, or rather more fear than harm for the Senegalese who had initially feared a tear, synonymous with several weeks of absence.

"He (

) said he was not able to sprint, that he had muscle problems," Tuchel explained last week.

He played most of the half time with problems and explained at the break that it was not possible for him to continue.

"

A situation in which Julian Draxler was also found, left on time on Saturday against Dijon (4-0) while holding the back of the left thigh.

But unlike Gueye, it is the path to the infirmary that the German will take.

The exams passed on Monday by the Parisian community would have revealed a hamstring injury which should remove him from the field for several weeks.

"He will miss Verratti, Paredes and Draxler in Istanbul," Thomas Tuchel warned this weekend.

Mauro Icardi will also be missed.

If he resumed ball training after his injury to the internal lateral ligament of the right knee, the Argentinian is still too fair to accompany his partners.
