Three Peruvians were sentenced on Tuesday by the Bobigny Criminal Court to suspended sentences for concealing phones stolen from supporters who came to attend the Champions League final almost a month ago, the scene of numerous incidents around of the Stade de France.

Two of them, aged 21 and 26, were given a six-month suspended prison sentence for

“concealment of theft”

of telephones.

The third, 39, also prosecuted for

"illegal exercise of taxi activity",

received a nine-month suspended sentence.

On the evening of the final, the latter was driving a vehicle acting as a clandestine taxi when the police arrested the trio with, on board, 14 stolen telephones, wallets containing money or even cannabis.

," mocked the president of the court.

The three men denied being behind the thefts, and assured that a third party, who was not arrested, was directing the crew at work around the stadium.

Two of them, in an irregular situation on the territory, appeared detained.

“The police wanted to find the culprits, and pushed us to confess things that we had not done

,” pleaded one of the defendants, presenting himself as a tourist who came to support Real Madrid.

"They targeted a population that was particularly easy to steal: foreigners and tourists,"

said Inès Bordet, the representative of the public prosecutor's office.

Three other men of Peruvian nationality, in an irregular situation, have already been sentenced by this court on May 31, for thefts to the detriment of supporters.

The Bobigny prosecutor's office recorded 80 complaints from English and Spanish supporters for theft and violence at the end of June.
