The Parisian club receives Saint-Brieuc this Friday (7:30 p.m.) at the Charléty stadium during the 2nd day of National. A special moment

He grew up 100m from the Boutroux stadium and took his first license at FC Gobelins as a chick at 6 years old.

"I am a child of the club, his blood runs in my veins", explains Frédéric Pereira, 41, president of Paris 13 Atletico

(the new name of the club)

since 2011.

“It's my neighborhood, my roots.

I was still a player but I wanted to invest myself in making the club grow.

At the time, some at the club wanted to merge with the Stade Olympique in Paris but I told them:

We never merge with a patient

.

But we recovered educators, the Carpentier stadium and it was off, ”explains the one who played until CFA 2 (ex N3) with the Lusitanos Saint-Maur and FC Issy.

Ten years later, Paris 13 Atletico has become the French club with the most licensees (nearly 1,600).

Under the presidency of Frédéric Pereira, he had seven climbs, going from Departmental Excellence (10th division) to National.

“With Namori Keita (

general manager

), we have taken the steps.

Of course, it is a pride to be back today in National.

But often passionate presidents, and I am one, are only interested in the first team.

It's not my case.

»

“What I am most proud of, he continues, is that Paris 13 Atletico has become a real football club with the U17s in Nationals, all the youth teams in the League, a women's football school… We have never privileged the elite to the detriment of the mass of our licensees.

In the 13th century, fundamental social work is carried out.

Many of our players become educators at the club, which perpetuates our DNA and our identity over the years.

»

“I am the son of a worker and a cleaning lady, I made myself”

Frédéric Pereira's other great success is his Skita brand, a contraction of Mesquita, his second surname.

“I am of Portuguese origin, my father was a worker, my mother a cleaner, I only have a baccalaureate, I made myself,” he recalls.

The Skita adventure began in 2009 in a “small 33 m2 apartment in Vitry, flocking jerseys with my wife for 4 clubs.

»

Today, the company equips 400 clubs, including 250 in Ile-de-France, employs 12 people and has a 3,000 m2 warehouse in Orly "There is my wife, my daughter-in-law with me, we remain a family business , he explains.

Skita is passion but above all a lot of work.

We worked 14 hours a day.

»

The idea germinated when he was a player and educator.

“I heard a lot of clubs who had problems with stock, delivery or quality.

The big brands neglected the amateur clubs and did not respect them.

True quality was reserved for the pros.

We wanted to offer a professional service to amateurs.

We are a French brand, we focus on proximity, we have a catalog and we are able to deliver within 48 hours.

Skita is also a style.

"As a player, I've also heard criticism about outfits.

So we wanted to stand out with well-cut, close-fitting and neon jerseys, which I was the first to launch in 2012.”

If he works with graphic designers, the self-taught Pereira also likes to create his own outfits.

In the streets of the 13th arrondissement, many are wearing the club's fluorescent tracksuit, which does not go unnoticed.

With references to the François-Mitterrand library and the Cité de la Mode et du Design, this season's jerseys are among the most beautiful in the National.

A level that the president apprehends with his usual recipes: "Work and humility".

“The most complicated thing to manage was the concern for the facilities.

We don't want to bother anyone.

We hope that our Boutroux cauldron will soon be brought up to standard.

We were lucky to be supported by our elected officials from the 13th arrondissement, Jérôme Coumet (mayor) and Aïmane Bassiouni (sports) who always wanted that, no matter what, we could play at home in the 13th arrondissement.

»

“It is not because I am going to give 13,000 euros to a player instead of 3,000 that he will be better”

On the financial level, Pereira who has completed a budget of 1.6 million euros (the smallest of National) has not changed anything either.

“When we moved up to N3 and then to N2, we were already operating differently.

The clubs that have money, they all do the same: they try to buy the best players.

Me, it's not my vision of football.

I am convinced that it is not because I am going to give 13,000 euros to a player instead of 3,000 that he will be better.

"Me, I like revenge, those who are hungry and give young people a chance," he says again.

It also makes me happy to have loyal players who have been with us for several years.

For me, a team is first and foremost a state of mind, a collective that works together, not just names.

I had a great human encounter with Jean-Guy (

Wallemme, the coach)

who fit perfectly with our values.

But I would also like to thank Fabien

(Valeri, who left for Chambly)

who took us a step further in terms of professionalism during his two years with us.

»

Frédéric Pereira spends a lot of time at Paris 13 Atletico.

But he watches very little football elsewhere.

"Sometimes a Champions League game, but that's it.

In fact, there is only Paris 13 Atletico that interests me.

I don't support any team except my club.

I am a fan of my club.

I really enjoy going to see our young people and what we have put in place for all these years.

»

This Friday at 7:30 p.m., when the first home match in the history of Paris 13 Atletico in National kicks off, he will be able to measure the progress made.

“There will inevitably be a little emotion,” he concludes.
