Patchwork or general renovation - these two options were discussed at the Poinger municipal council meeting on October 14, 2021 under the agenda item "Odor nuisance in the Kinderland daycare center at Kirchheimer Allee 19".
Poing - The annoying smell has been in the building for a long time. An engineering office commissioned by the municipality (Müller BBM) took material samples from the walls and floors of the ground floor bathrooms in October 2020 and December 2020 as well as in February 2021. It was determined that a flame retardant applied to the lino wall coverings could be the reason for the smell. As a measure, the engineers proposed a refurbishment in July 2021, which consisted of three concepts and would cost around 350,000 euros.
The "noise-intensive" work will now begin during the Easter holidays (April 11 to 23, 2022) and the kindergarten will be closed during this period. The 24 crèche children - who are housed on the ground floor - will be housed together with the staff from March 1st to August 31st, 2022 in the Seewinkel children's area. The parents have already been informed by the carrier. The change of the operating license will be applied for at the district office in a timely manner.
The kindergarten children, who are housed on the upper floor, will remain in the premises as the renovation work with appropriate noise and dust protection measures will only take place on the ground floor.
For pedagogical reasons, the staff also spoke out in favor of the premises and developed a corresponding concept.
Another reason for staying: It is not possible to outsource the kindergarten children in the municipal area due to the move and the current occupancy situation.
Any emergency care for the kindergarten children is offered internally by the provider.
