The lack of effectiveness of “made in China” serums against the Delta variant has brutally slowed down the enthusiasm of many southern countries. Malaysia announced in mid-July that it was stopping the use of Sinovac due to concerns about its effectiveness. The Moderna vaccine is now given as a booster to caregivers. Thailand has also halted its purchases of Chinese vaccines, becoming the first country to offer a dose of AstraZeneca to those who had already received one or two injections of Sinovac. After purchasing 100 million doses from Sinovac,Turkey has fallen back on Pfizer from whom it has ordered 120 million vaccines.
