Christian Eriksen was discharged this Friday after a successful heart operation, as reported by the Danish Federation. Six days after collapsing on the pitch during the match between Denmark and Finland, the Danish player is well and has been released from the hospital. Eriksen has sent a message of reassurance and support to his colleagues: “Thank you for the large number of congratulations, it has been incredible to see and feel it. The operation went well and I am fine under these circumstances. It's really great to see what a great game the guys played last night. Needless to say, I will be cheering them on next Monday against Russia. " The Danish Federation has also reported that Eriksen has visited his teammates and that, after the visit, he will go home to spend time with his family.

The Danish player has been implantable with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) in order to prevent him from suffering another cardiac arrest.

The ICD is an electrical device similar to a pacemaker that can detect an abnormal heart rhythm and automatically reverse it in a programmed way, by means of electric shocks (which allow one type of tachycardia to be differentiated from others) or by less traumatic pacing techniques.

According to the Danish Federation, Eriksen accepted this solution and the plan was "confirmed by national and international specialists" who recommended this treatment.

Eriksen's future on the pitch is still up in the air.
