The singer will release acoustic versions of his old hits in October, supplemented by an unreleased track with the Senegalese star.

It is a legendary studio, nestled in an old farm in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence (Bouches-du-Rhône), a peaceful village a few kilometers from Avignon. On this 3500 m2 living space with swimming pool surrounded by lavender hides a cultural treasure: the largest private collection of classic records in France, 200,000 vinyl records, as well as 30,000 films on VHS and hundreds of books. Welcome to La Fabrique, a paradise for music lovers.

But if international stars like Kanye West, Nick Cave, Radiohead or French personalities such as Alain Souchon or Julien Doré come to this place at the foot of the Alpilles massif, it is mainly for its recording studios. Taking advantage of several cancellations due to a global pandemic, Christophe Maé settled there for two weeks, in an artistic seminar, with his musicians to work on new versions of his most famous songs, such as "C'est ma terre" or " It is or happiness ”, but also to finalize a new new piece,“ the Bear ”, in duet with the Senegalese star Youssou N'Dour.

All the titles are intended for a reissue of his latest album, "The Artist's Life", scheduled for October. “It has been three years since I had in mind a picture of this lean bear, which dies of heat on its ice floe, says the singer. I couldn't figure out how to write it, and then I raved during confinement, imagining that he would hear choirs from Africa. I love this music, Ismaël Lô, Touré Kunda… And I had met Youssou N'Dour at COP 22 in Marrakech. We sang in a stadium together, I offered him the song and he recorded his voice in the studio in Dakar. I had dreamed of it and it was obvious. And to add: "And now, I'm the one who can't wait to sing it in Senegal. African music is one of my first loves, it touches me a lot. I am so happy with this marriage to my pop! "

He dreams of a clip directed by Yann Arthus-Bertrand

To highlight this new title, Christophe Maé has another dream. “I am fascinated by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, I watched all of his documentaries, notably Human . I love his work. He's someone I'm going to try to approach. I never met him, I don't even know if he knows me but I would love him to put this song in pictures. "

In the meantime, in front of around forty relatives, the musician recorded on video a concert lasting nearly two hours, on the evening of July 10, at the Fabrique. “We had to do a live broadcast for the networks at the start, but unfortunately we didn't have enough connection here. This concert will be broadcast very soon, until we resume the tour. "
