Forcing companies that produce a good to also take care of its disposal and recycling when it becomes waste, promote the sharing of products instead of their purchase and repair instead of replacement.

These are some of the tools of the national strategy for the circular economy, approved on 24 June last with a decree by the minister of ecological transition, Roberto Cingolani, together with the national program for waste management.

The strategy and program were illustrated with a press conference at the Ministry by Undersecretary Vannia Gava (Lega), who is in charge of the circular economy.

The tools of the Circular Economy Strategy are the establishment of minimum environmental criteria for purchases by the Public Administration;

"end of waste" decrees to define when a recycled waste becomes a new raw material;

extended producer responsibility for the disposal of its product when it becomes waste;

sharing of assets;

repair instead of replacement;

symbiosis between industries for the use of waste in other production processes;

recovery of returned products because they are defective;

security deposit for containers, to be refunded when returned.

The National Waste Management Program (also adopted by the Mite decree on 24 June last) is the strategic guideline tool for the Regions and Autonomous Provinces in waste management.

It has a 6-year time horizon (2022-2028): it sets macro-objectives, defines the criteria and strategic lines to which the Regions and Autonomous Provinces must comply in the elaboration of waste management plans and offers a national survey of the plant engineering, to overcome the gaps in the plants between the North and Centrosud.

Gava, there is a lot of environmental culture to do

.

"Waste produces energy, and biofuels are obtained from organic waste. This is why we have put money into the NRP for flagship circular economy projects."

This was stated by the undersecretary for ecological transition, Vannia Gava (Lega), during the presentation in Rome.

"It cannot be said that companies that recycle waste create environmental damage - continued the undersecretary -. They are companies that have invested a lot to be green and not harm the environment. It is our duty to support them" .

"There is a lot of environmental culture to be done, to make it clear that waste treatment plants are not a problem - said Gava -. They are used to reduce the part that ends up in landfills".

For this "we have put funds for communication.

It is clear that we need to talk, I am for dialogue.

By creating environmental culture and informing, one can obtain the effect of not frightening, but accompanying the process of reconversion of the country ".
