The swimmers have already done so in the qualifying rounds of the Wingate Swimming Association Cup • Cohen Gromi with 52.78 seconds in the 100 butterfly and Leitrovsky with 55.08 seconds in the 100 backstroke

The Israeli Swimming Association Cup, the Israeli criteria competition, continued today (Wednesday) in the national pool at the Wingate Institute, when already during the qualifying rounds the swimmers Gal Cohen Gromi and Michael Leitrovsky set the criteria for the World Championships, which will be held in June in Budapest.

The two Olympic swimmers, who returned after an excellent college season, needed confirmation time and proof of ability, having set the time required earlier.

Both did so in the first attempt, when Cohen Gromi set a time of 52.78 seconds in the 100 butterfly and Michael Leitrovsky recorded 55.08 seconds in the 100 backstroke.

The one who qualified first for the 100 backstroke final was David Gerchik, with a personal record of 54.99 seconds, while Yaakov Tomarkin also swam in a fast time which guarantees a fascinating battle in the final.

Further in this ointment, young Okan Goldin set a 15-year-old record with a time of 56.96 seconds, an improvement of 1.3 seconds to the previous record held by Sergei Shurin since 2015.
