Seven years after her resignation, tennis star Kim Clijsters is about to make a comeback: the 36-year-old Belgian has announced her return for 2020.

Former tennis world number one Kim Clijsters plans her second comeback at the age of 36 years. As the Belgian announced in a podcast of the professional organization WTA, she wants to compete in 2020 after almost eight years break again on the professional tour. It would be the second time that the four-time Grand Slam champion returns from retirement.

"I do not feel like I have to prove anything to anyone, but for me it's more the challenge I'm looking for," said Clijster's mother of three, "I have friends who want to run the New York Marathon before they do 50. I still love to play tennis, I want to be strong again, this is my personal marathon. "

Clijsters, who won a total of 41 individual titles in her career, had already resigned in 2007 because of her pregnancy for the first time. In 2009, she returned and won in the same year for the second time after 2005, the US Open title, which she successfully defended in 2010. In addition, she won the 2011 Australian Open. After her second-round defeat at the 2012 US Open against the British Laura Robson Clijsters resigned again.
