Vaccinated and convalescents only need to show a test if they are coming from a virus variant area.

A country overview.

Berlin - The general compulsory test when re-entering Germany has apparently been decided.

Handelsblatt

and

Bild

reported an agreement between the federal and state governments on Thursday evening.

According to this, all those entering the country from the age of six must show a negative corona test from August 1st.

Unlike before, this no longer only applies to travelers by plane, but also to holidaymakers who travel by car, train or bus.

However, there are exceptions.

Vaccinated and convalescents do not always have to show a test.

This is only necessary if you are entering Germany from a virus variant area.

The RKI currently lists the following countries on its list of virus variant areas (as of July 23):

  • Botswana

  • Brazil

  • Eswatini

  • Lesotho

  • Malawi

  • Mozambique

  • Namibia

  • Zambia

  • Zimbabwe

  • South Africa

  • Uruguay

When entering from these countries, vaccinated and convalescent people must now show a negative corona test. In addition, travelers have to be in quarantine for two weeks in any case, as
