Concepts of social emotional learning within an event of the Ministry of Education

In order to shed light on the concepts of social emotional learning and the educational and educational ideas it carries, more than 250 educational mentors, teachers and teachers attended today the movie “Winder” at Cinema City in Damascus.

And social emotional learning, for which the Ministry of Education has allocated two lessons per week during the current school year, is a class activity that measures the learner’s performance, intelligence and positive personal development through 4 axes “life skills, projects, initiatives, and vocational education.”

The film presents the story of a child who is bullied at school because he suffers from congenital differences in the face and is able to overcome this and integrate with his peers thanks to his friendship with the child Jack and the support of his family and teachers.

The film is a model for viewing the concepts of social emotional learning because it presents topics about self and social awareness, self-management, decision-making skills, managing emotions, achieving goals, cooperation, empathy, the ability to establish relationships between individuals and their community, and other topics discussed by the audience after watching the film.

In the end, a score card was distributed to the attendees to express their opinion on the situations mentioned in the film, which reinforce the concept of social emotional learning for them.

And the movie “Winder” was directed in 2017, starring Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson, Jacob Tremblawy, Noah Jobe and others.

The film was attended by the Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabbaa, the head of the Revolutionary Youth Union, Ali Abbas, and the team authoring the Social Emotional Learning Curriculum, and those concerned with the educational sector.
