THE QUESTION.

Last Friday, France threatened the island of Jersey to reduce its electricity deliveries.

The last episode in a long series of outbursts of tension between France and the United Kingdom on the issue of fishing authorizations.

London and Jersey have, in total, granted France more than 200 definitive licenses to access the British coasts and those of the Channel Islands.

But Paris is still claiming 244.
