People who do not want to get vaccinated against the coronavirus are a problem around the world, and Argentina is no exception.
To face this problem, in Mendoza they decided to launch a controversial free alcohol campaign to "reward" those who decide to get immunized.
Yes,
wine or beer free of charge for those showing that they were recently vaccinated
.
The initiative that will take place from next Monday to August 15 is promoted by the Mendoza Association for the Gastronomic and Related Hospitality Business and
covers bars, restaurants and hotels
.
A campaign to which 50 of the 160 stores that are registered in the entity were associated.
Through the campaign, they offer "a pint" or a "sparkling wine" to people who go to bars and restaurants with their Covid-19 vaccination certificate.

As explained, the initiative seeks that young people and adults between 30 and 40 years old, the most "rebellious" towards vaccination in the Cuyo area, have
an incentive
to be inoculated.
"We want to encourage vaccination and it is important that the people of Mendoza become aware of what it means to be vaccinated. It is a campaign that
has the support of the provincial government
. We have to become aware that this is a way of supporting society. And We thought of giving a drink as a celebration for one more vaccinated, "explained Beatriz Barbera, head of the sector, in statements published by the morning newspaper
El Sol.
"We know that getting vaccinated is an individual act, but we take it as a community act because it affects the entire society. We think positively and we seek to go through this stage in the best way so as to be able to return to normalcy little by little," he added.
"Una pint", one of the awards that Mendoza chose for those who get vaccinated after August 2.
The proposal will be carried out throughout the province and not only will the local members of the institution participate, but they also
seek to get the rest of the locals to join.

Stances against
The proposal, which has not yet started, has already generated controversy.
"We do not accompany a
campaign that promotes and encourages the consumption of alcohol
. It does seem important to us to encourage vaccination, but the one we want to use is not the right way," said Romina Ríos, head of the NGO Protectora, in a clear position against The initiative.
"We are in favor of awareness campaigns, but I believe that merchants
should use other advertising
or marketing
techniques
to make a business known or increase consumption in the premises and not through alcoholic beverages and vaccination", Ríos justified his position.

Days ago, Rodolfo Suárez, governor of Mendoza, expressed concern about an age group that was not going to the vaccination centers.
Fundamentally in the range that go from 30 to 40 years.
“Official data tell us that out of
285,498 people
in this segment, only
168,565 were
vaccinated
.
This represents
59.04%
of the population.
Faced with this situation, the Government of the province urges the population to attend to be inoculated on the assigned shift, ”the governor reported in the middle of the month.
Mendoza, like other jurisdictions, has already opened vaccination to children under 12 and 17 years of age with comorbidities.
And this week it was authorized that the vaccination centers will receive all the people of legal age who do not have a turn to be immunized.
