The Indian health system has long been overloaded, among other things there is a lack of oxygen to ventilate the many Covid-19 patients.
A new global high level of new corona infections has now been recorded in the country.
According to figures from the Ministry of Health, more than 412,000 cases were registered within 24 hours.
Accordingly, 3980 people died in connection with the corona virus.
The number of unreported cases is likely to be significantly higher - also because it is difficult to be tested in parts of the country and, especially in rural regions, many people die at home and do not always appear in the statistics.
In absolute numbers, India, with a population of more than 1.3 billion and a total of more than 21 million recorded corona infections, is hardest hit by the pandemic behind the USA.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the corona cases recorded in India last week made up almost half of all corona cases reported worldwide.
International aid deliveries start
More than 40 countries have now promised the country aid deliveries in the form of ventilators and oxygen concentrators, among other things.
Germany is participating with 120 ventilators, among other things.
A second transport machine with components for an oxygen recovery system also started from the Wunstorf air base in Lower Saxony on Thursday.
The system is now completely underway.
The Air Force announced that the first aircraft that had flown the day before should land in New Delhi during the day after a stopover in Abu Dhabi.

After criticizing the speed and transparency of the distribution of international aid in India, the German ambassador Walter Lindner asked for patience.
He told the newspaper “The Hindu”: “When you have incoming international aid, there is always a time lag before you see results.
You have to get approvals, then sometimes you have to unpack and repack the devices to use them.
It'll take a couple of days. "
